Portal FAQ
1. Can i use this site if I'm not of the cities, states or countries listed?
Yes, as inSPOT is available on the worldwide web, anyone can use the site. The geographic areas listed on the home page have extensive and current information about local testing and treatment resources. If you choose to send an e-card to someone not living in one of the geographic areas featured, you might want to include something in your personal message about local places to get tested.
2. Can I use the site if I'm not a man who has male sex partners?
Yes, of course. Although the site was developed by and for gay, bisexual and other men who have sex male sex partners, anyone can use it. Some of the STD information will be specific to men with male sex partners, but much of the information is relevant to all of us.
3. Should I send e-cards from my own email address?
Yes, historically, when you tell a sex partner(s) yourself, it's more likely he will "hear" the message and get tested. We do not collect any identifying information from those who input their email addresses, so your privacy will be protected.
4. How can I find who sent me an anonymous e-card?
The anonymous/confidential nature of the site cannot be maintained if records are kept regarding the persons sending or receiving e-cards. We do not collect any identifying information about the ecard senders or recipients, nor the personal messages that may be added to the cards.
5. What if someone sends one of these as a joke?
Misuse of the site is prohibited and we strongly encourage people to use the site responsibly. However, we do not assume liability for use/misuse of the site by any individual. We urge anyone receiving these e-cards to use their own good judgement in seeking medical attention and urge anyone who is sexually active to be examined regularly for STDs.
6. Can my city/state/country be added to the portal?
There is a replication fee to create an inSPOT for a particular city, state or country. To learn more contact info@isis-inc.org
